Loading Point

​

1.   Co-ordination and / or management of Rail and Road Capacity.

2.   Ergon Logistics Supervision and labour.

3.   Liaison with all Rail and Road Service Providers.

4.   Preperation of rail capacity, pre-maintenance and equipment fit-for-purpose inspections.

5.   Service Provdier communication (Road and Rail).

6.   Loading as per prescribed loading instructions.

7.   Co-ordination of loading activities.

8.   Inspection and supply of Tarpaulins (if required).

9.   Consolidation and reconciliation of masses (loaded and off-loaded).

10. Procurement, management and distribution of tarpaulins.

In-Transit Activity

​

1.   In-Transit Management.

2.   Co-ordination at all hand-over points.

3.   Provide customised activity reports on daily basis.

4.   Manage Rail Fleet (loaded and empty).

Off-Loading Point

​

1.   Ergon Logistics supervision and labour.

2.   Recovery, folding, storage and transport of tarpaulins.

3.   Maintenance and repairs of tarpaulins.

4.   Replacement of lost or damaged tarpaulins.

5.   Planning of rail capacity on return leg.

6.   Reconciliation of rail account (where required).

General Management Functions

​

1.   Transit times: Customers will be supplied with specific departure and arrival information (including ETA's).

2.   Implementation of Customised Reporting Systems.

3.   Appointment of Service Level Committees (SLC) for monthly performance evaluation and assessment.

4.   Current Representation: Thambazimbi, Gauteng, Vanderbijlpark, Johannesburg, Middelburg, Durban, Beit Bridge,

      Richards bay, Zimbabwe, Maputo and Zambia.

Due to unique and often specialised supply chain requirements of Customers, Ergon Logistics can, at short notice, gear up and provide the necessary Staff, equipment and offices at any specified location.

​

 

Current Personnel Complement

​

The current Staff complement at Ergon Logistics is 21, of which 5 are administrative staff at the Head Office, and 16 are speciality operations staff.

​

As previously mentioned, specialised equipment and staff are procured and employed for specific projects.

​

Road Transport Service

While Ergon Logistics speciality is with Rail Transport, Road Transport is also utilised where its value is required. This can be for a feeder service for rail or a door-to-door service if the volumes are small or particularly urgent.

​

In all cases, the most cost-efficient and effective modes are utilised in the entire supply chain design.
