Ergon Logistics (Pty) Ltd is a Supply Chain Management Company and has a staff complement that has significant experience in Road and Rail Supply Chain Management. Our focus, rail and road management skills, as well as in-depth transport mode knowledge and experience ensure effective, efficient and successful supply chains.

Our objective is to stabilize the current flow of traffic in line with Customers desired service levels, and to optimise capacity by investigating and implementing alternative solutions where necessary, and utilising the most cost effective mode of transport.

Ergon Logistics holds a rail account with Transnet Freight Rail and provides this service, if required, to all the SADC countries.
The Value of the Ergon Logistics Model
The value of the Ergon Logistics Supply Chain Management model is derived from the requirement of Customers to focus on their core business.

Every Company, in some form, has the need for an efficient and cost-effective supply chain. Ergon Logistics can custom design your supply chain that utilises any combination of transport modes (road or rail), as well as specific services at the loading point, in-transit or at the off-loading point.

You do not need to have a rail account with any of the SADC Railways or any registered Road Haulier – in fact you don’t even need to have a rail siding.

Ergon Logistics will assess your particular supply chain requirements and custom design you a solution that will save you costs and considerable hassle over the long term.

In the package that is designed, experience has shown that Ergon Logistics often offers more than the traditional ‘4th Party’ Logistics Provider.

Previous contracts have included services that manage stockpiles, all security requirements, the ordering, cleaning and sealing of rail wagons, as well as the procurement and provision of dedicated tarpaulins. In special circumstances, Ergon Logistics has also procured, supplied and managed the provision of dedicated shunting locomotives to facilitate shunting operations for Customers in Mozambique.

In all cases, all rail and road documentation, including Customs and Border clearance documentation can also be completed, on the Customers behalf, by the Ergon Logistics administrative Staff.

In general, by stabilising the various supply chains, along with value-adding services, Ergon Logistics can achieve and sustain service levels that are beyond a Customer’s expectations.

All administration and tarpaulin procurement and distribution, and well as the monthly reconciliation of rail accounts, is managed from the Ergon Logistics Vanderbijlpark office.

The daily and monthly reports required by Customers are compiled by the Vanderbijlpark Office from reports submitted by all the Ergon Logistics Operational Staff at the various centres.

A monthly, high-level meeting (Service Control Committee) is strongly recommended by Ergon Logistics for all significant supply chain projects. The objective of these meetings is to review projects in terms of the performance against the service parameters as set by the Customers and discuss any problem areas and possible solutions.

Again, experience has shown that this type of meeting has been invaluable in improving the perception of rail and road services and the value that a focussed supply chain manger can add.
